Produced in Suriname in collaboration with the Backlot and UNICEF for the Kids and Docs Festival/workshop by young people from the Caribbean, including Guyana
Using a digital camera and a laptop, young people conceptualize, capture and edit their own short videos with the help of a DigiPLAY trainer using child friendly interactive editing software. The shorts created speak to issues that are important to them from their perspective.
A recap of the CRC@20 (20th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child) concert held on November 20 at the National Cultural Centre. Children who witnessed the event and one of those who participated on stage were given the opportunity to weigh in on the days proceedings and share their thoughts on the importance of childrens rights.
A profile of 13 year old Sarah Chappelle, radio presenter of the childrens show Sunshine Corner on the Voice of Guyana (560 AM radio). She began at age 10 and hopes to pursue broadcasting as a career, like her father. She writes her own scripts, produces and presents the pre-recorded daily childrens show.
International Children's Day of Broadcasting 2010 production by YMG. Part 1 features a visually impaired 14 year old Amerindian boy who paddles his canoe to school in a remote river-rain village in Region 1. He taught himself to write and his sister reads to him from the chalkboard.
