This individual shows a decreased amount of foot pronation when running with bare feet compared to running in shoes. Note: the shoes being worn in this video are the Asics Speedstars, a lightweight trainer and a relatively "minimalistic" running shoe.
Notice how with this individual both foot pronation and internal thigh (hip) rotation increases during barefoot running. Keep in mind though, that she may actually be pronating within the shoe... impossible to tell without bone pins or some other form of viewing accurate segment motion.
Excessive pelvic drop during running has been associated with several chronic injuries and performance issues in runners. Here, Amy shows how to determine if pelvic movement is excessive using video motion analysis software.
How do you know if a runner is excessively pronating? This video will provide an objective method for measuring rear-foot eversion using 2D video analysis software.
